How to please goddess Lakshmi on Diwali Festival

Diwali is considered as one of the auspicious festivals. It is being celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs as per their customs and religion. In Hindu, we celebrate this festival as a victory of light over darkness and evil spirit. When it comes to children, as it is celebrated on Amavasya, it’s the festival of sweets, crackers, and lights.

Festival begins with Dhan Trayodashi or Dhanteras as the first day and on the second day its Naraka Chaturdashi and then Diwali. Apart from these three important days people also celebrate Govardhan pooja on the fourth day and Bhai dooj (brother-sister relationship) on the fifth day. Among all on third day i.e on Diwali, Lakshmi pooja is famous and is believed that performing Lakshmi pooja on this day brings you wealth and prosperity.

How to perform Lakshmi Pooja:

  • First, we need to cleanse the house by sprinkling river Ganga water or any spiritual river water.
  • Then perform Kalash Pooja and Lord Ganesh Pooja.
  • Light a lamp and aarathi. Offer lotus flower, fruits, sweets, and coconut.
  • Diwali festival Rituals:

Diwali Festival Rituals:

Apart from the above steps one should wake up early in the morning around 4.00 A.M. to 5.00 A.M and complete your ablutions.

One should apply Til oil to head and the whole body and perform abhyanga bath. If you have any children then the mother should bring Uttareni plant (in Telugu) one day before and put it in water. After applying oil to the body, the mother should apply kumkum tilak on forehead and give aarti. Then chant Sankalp (ex: removal of evil eye or eye shore) from his son and rotate the plant three times over the body of his child and throw this plant towards the south. Then only one should do an Abhyanga bath.

When it comes to ladies one should put rangoli muggu using rice grain powder and put the banana leaf and pour little whole grains over it and light a lamp using til oil. Make sure that this lamp lights throughout the day till next day morning at 4.00 A.M.

By doing all the above rituals we can please goddess Lakshmi.

Also one should perform lord Ganesh pooja placing it towards the left side of the photo or idol of goddess Lakshmi and then Lakshmi pooja. I have focused on Lord Ganesh because goddess Lakshmi has a nature of leaving the house if she is not satisfied with the rituals or any mistakes done by you. Here Lord Ganesh helps in stopping goddess Lakshmi and bless you.
