Importance of Holi Festival Holika is the sister of Hiranyakasika. She tried to kill Prahaladha but putting him in her laps as she has a boon of destruction whoever sits on her laps. When prahaladha started chanting the name Vishnu, Holika got destroyed. There is also one popular story believed in south India.
