Significance of Poli Swargam Deepam during Karthika Masam
Poli Swarga Deepam is a kind of lighting lamp during the month of Karthika which represents the end of the auspicious month. Karthika Masam is one of the mythological months where we find devotees take a holy bath near rivers and light lamps. Every day of this month is auspicious, Amavasya (new moon) devotes lighten lamp with a name poli swargam (one of the rituals performed especially in the Andhra region). Story 1: Poli is one of the daughters-in-law in a combined family. Her aunt used to get jealous of her daughter-in-law for her devotedness towards god.
