Significance of Ganesh Nimajjan During the season of Vinayaka chavathi , all Hindus perform pujas to Lord Vinayaka by installing large idols in their town. In all mandalas, Lord Ganesh is worshipped for a period of 10 days starting from Bhadrapada Shudha Chaturthi to the Ananta Chaturdashi. We perform special pujas by offering laddu as naivedyam. Previously we used to install Ganesh idols only in temple premises and perform pujas. But during independence, Bala Gangadhar Tilak requested Hindus to install in their streets and performs pujas grandly from then we celebrate Vinayaka chavithi grandly by performing dances and playing music. However grandly we perform pujas, after nine days celebration we immerse the idol in the nearby water body.
