In order to bless his devotees, Lord Venkateshwara left Vaikunta and came to earth. Tirupati is considered to be kaliyuga Vaikunta. Gopuram of the temple is coated with gold plate. On the top of golden gopuram having silver gates, Lord Sri Venkateshwara resides. (Silver gates resemble to show the location of the lord). Many of the devotees after having the blessing of Lord Venkateshwara come out and see Vimana Venkateshwara Swamy who is above the golden gopuram. 

On lord Vishnu's order, Garukmanta bought Vimana Venkateswara from Vaikunta. You can find him on the gopuram vayuvya (north-west) direction. Lord is placed on top to give blessings for gods, birds and other creatures.

Vimana Venkateshwara Swamy 2As gods have different timings and they have nothing to do with our day and night timings, all the gods who exist in different worlds on earth top and core part gods can get blessings. Next time when you visit Tirumala see the foot of Lord Vimana Venkateshwara and take his blessings.

 Mistakes done while lighting a lamp 


  • Ladies should not light the lamp in a bowl type things.
  • You should not light the lamp directly with match sticks, if needed you can use a candle or put cotton in a spoon with little oil and use that as a medium.
  • Never make a single cotton pad to light a lamp.
  • It is recommended to light a lamp with agarbarthi/ intense stick.
  • When you light a lamp you need to apply kumkam on three sides and put few akshintalu (rice granules made by adding little turmeric powder)
  • We should always light keeping Lord Vishnu on the right side. Never keep the lamp in front of the Lord.
  • If at all if the lamp gets off, then before you light again you need to say 108 times "Om Namah Shivaya" panchakshari mantra.
