Importance of Betel leaves offered to Lord Hanuman

Knowingly or unknowingly we offer sindhoor and betel leaves and ask the priest to perform a pooja. Did you observe the fact that betel leaves are used only to Lord Hanuman while performing pooja. Betel leaves are offered to those who have read and absorbed the knowledge of Vedas and Sastras, we respect to their knowledge and request them to bless by offering betel leaves along with two nuts and two bananas (tambulam).

If you perform abhishekam with betel leaves and consume them after your meals you will be blessed with peace and prosperity. An important point to remember that if someone gives you tambulam then never rotate (give same leaves to others) those beetle leaves to others as they are not spoiled. Tambulam will consist of three beetle leaves, two nuts, and banana, we can also add one rupee coin and a flower. We offer this tambulam along with some Dakshina (fruits, money, clothes, rice, etc.) considering the presence of Dhakshinya Devi blessing to Brahmins to get the complete profits of our pooja. Also if you offer tambulam on Tuesday along with dhakshina to those Brahmins who have the knowledge of Vedas and recite every day and get their blessing it is good to you and helps in all kinds of hurdles in your life.

When Garland made of betel leaves are used to perform abhisheka, as the priest to give one to you. If they are tied to the entrance door as thorana, it is considered goddess Lakshmi presence will be there at your home.
