Importance of Raksha Bandhan, Significance of Rakhee

Raksha Bandhan or Sravana Purnima is one of the auspicious days as it is said to have God's eternal powers. It is also considered to attain quick results by chanting god names, stotras and japa as anyone who prays on this day will attain fulfillment of one-year prayers. Also, it is considered to bond a relationship between brother and sister. In our culture female is considered as the form of Shakti, when there is a period of destruction of relations between male and female this Raksha Bandhan will help us to protect mutually. Rakhee bonds relation in such a way that we do not see any kind of return from others and do help mutually with pure-hearted. By chanting Raksha Bandhan mantra will give you good results.

Upon the request of all gods, Lord Vishnu tried to capture one of the strongest demon king Bali Chakravarthi with his powers. Above mantra says that “O brother, I am tying Rakhee with such power of Lord Vishnu which will protect you in all ways and keep you happy” In return brother also promises his sister that he will protect her in all ways and keeps her happy.

Before Rakhee, our ancestors used to knot their hands with a thread of three or nine layers. This thread is prepared before our deity by infusing names of Nava Grahas, Ashta dikpalas, Maha Ganathi, Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwar and shakti (three goddess) names, maharshis and gurus. By doing so we used to get protection from gods and keep our families safe. This process has been implemented from past and by many changes now as one form it’s being knotted as Rakhee.
