Why should we wash our legs before entering the temple?
Even after having a bath at home, we normally wash our legs once again before entering the temple. This is because before entering and after leaving the house we wear slippers. According to sastras, we need to leave our slippers outside the premises of the temple, as land is one among pancha bhootas, we stand on it. As the lord is the king of all pancha bhootas, we pray in our self that we are coming to take your blessings.
We need to wash our legs from the front and back so that it is cleaned well. Along with legs we need to wash our mouth three times by splitting water.
"Oh, lord! Our body, tongue, and mouth have been cleaned, we have come to take your blessings" please bless us. Some of us also say we need to clean our hands because we use our hands while removing our slippers.
