Why do we call Jeernamu vatapi Jeernamu
Why do we call "Jeernamu vatapi Jeernamu"?
In a thick forest, there used to live two demon brothers named Ilvaludu and Vatapi. They used to trap all the people who get into the forest with their magical words and eat them. In this process, ilvaludu used to tell all the people that there is “Athidhi” puja going on, so please come and attend the puja and have stomach full meals. Meanwhile, Vatapi used to change himself as a goat.
Ilvaludu used to cut the goat and cook delicious food and serve the people. Once after completion of their meals, Ilvaludu used to call Vatapi who is present in the stomach. He used to tear the stomach and come out by killing the people.
--> “Agasthya” gets to know the truth why people are missing after entering the forest. He decides to get into the forest as a normal person. Seeing him, demons think he is also one of the people and calls him to their house as usual. Even he is served the food. After completion of the meals, Ilvaludu calls Vatapi to come out. Then Agasthya tells from where will Vatapi comes out, he is already digested. Then he tells the words “Jeernamu vatapi Jeernamu” and rubs the stomach. Later Agasthya makes Ilvaludu as dust.
That’s why our mom tells us that whenever we are unable to digest our food, tell the word “Jeernamu vatapi Jeernamu” so that even if the mountain is present in our stomach, it will easily get digested.
