We find this kind of ritual mainly during their birthday event or when they participate in any event along with their child. Whenever our children or elder person come with victory or when they are praised unnaturally or if they are lazy because of energy drain and ill we remove disti . --> Normally in children, we remove disti by adding turmeric powder and sunnam (a white ingredient used along with beetle leaf) mixed in water. People believe that with the eyesore of surrounding people child’s internal aura gets disturbed and by doing this ritual, the child may not fear in his dream and may not raise abnormally from their sleep and cry. Importance Of Karthika Masam

Image
Importance of Karthika Masam In the Hindu religion,  karthika masam is believed to be an auspicious month. We find Lord Ayyappa and other devotees taking a mandala (41 days) Deeksha. During this month if we can control our senses and chant mantras by keeping our body clean, bathing with cold water, we get released from all kinds of sins. During this season we need to perform puja with the help of Tulasi leaf. Under the shadow of the amla tree, we need to offer "pinda pradhan." Eating amla and wearing mala makes Lord Vishnu pleased. During karthika masam we need to insert "stambam" long rod or a trunk inserted into the ground. We need to tie a vessel which swings and we need to light oil lamp so that it is visible through eight directions (according to Hindu religion it is said eight directions). By doing so, it brings you the effect of praying all gods. Something once lost will never return Lost time Arrow released from a bow A misspelled

Importance of Ratha Sapthami Ritual Bath: Many of us may think why do we bath putting jilledu leaf along with regi/ green berry fruit on rathasapthami festival. Reason:      Regi/ green berry fruit has certain enzymes which benefit us, jilledi/ swallow-wort leaf have many benefits and we used on the head which in turn helps us in many ways. Chemicals present on jilledi/ swallow-wort leaf will strengthen the root of the hair, cools the scalp. If water enters into the nose or ears, it is difficult and dangerous for a child. That's why we need to perform a bath of a child with hot water putting them on our legs.      We need to a

Why Avoid Tulasi Leaf In Ganesh Puja

Image
Why shouldn't we put Tulasi/ basil leave during Lord Vinayaka puja When we perform Lord Vinayaka puja, we put many varieties of leaves and flowers. If you have noticed you don't find Tulasi/ basil leave. Tulasi leave is considered most sacred leaves in Hindu religion.      Once Lord Vinayaka was traveling beside Ganga river, a princess named Dharmadwaja saw lord Vinayaka and started liking him and also proposed. But Lord Ganesha rejected her proposal, angry with his rejection she cursed Lord Ganesha saying you will remain as a bachelor for a long period. In response to her curse, even he cursed her to remain with a demon for a long period. After hearing his curse, she started pleading to rescue her from his curse. Lord Ganesha calmed himself and said you have to live with a demon for a short period and later get rebirth as a sacred Tulasi. This is the reason why Lord Vinayaka dislikes Tulasi leaves. So avoid tulasi leaf at Ganesh puja. Why shouldn't we

Many of us think our duty is finished when Lords visit is finished and see some lonely place sit to take rest or meditate. Only few of us sit and apply shatari / shadagopyam on our head. Meaning of Shadagopyam is very secret. When we wish some boon, it should not be heard to the Brahmin who puts on our head. It means our boon resembles shadagopyam. Normally our enemies are angry, desire, ego etc., here when we bow and apply shadagopyam on our head, it means we ready to be away from our enemies. Few people go away from applying it because we don’t have enough change, but it’s wrong. Why shouldn't we use water of washed clothes to clean legs? Yes, it is said that we should not use drained water/ washed water of clothes to clean our legs and say it brings bad sign for our family. We find many women in India use water le

Why do we bless with akshintalu

Image
Why do we bless with akshintalu In Indian tradition blessing with Akshintalu has its importance and you find this blessing process in all Puranas. Akshintalu means rice grains coated with turmeric powder. Lord Brahma will write our fate on our forehead. Karma and its influence will be written on the head. If old people or the person who has done all noble deeds put akshintalu on the head and bless a person, at least some of his karma and its influence can be changed. So whenever our elder person wishes us with akshintalu we should pick the grain and dispose of them in a place where no one stamps it again. --> Why do we give shavasan more importance in yoga?   When we do yoga, we intend to circulate blood throughout the body. Every yogasan is focused on a particular area of our body. It will try to circulate more blood to that part and try to remove all waste and poisonous blood from that area. For example, when we do vajrasan blood is transferred

Why do we call Jeernamu vatapi Jeernamu

Why do we call "Jeernamu vatapi Jeernamu"? In a thick forest, there used to live two demon brothers named Ilvaludu and Vatapi. They used to trap all the people who get into the forest with their magical words and eat them. In this process, ilvaludu used to tell all the people that there is “Athidhi” puja going on, so please come and attend the puja and have stomach full meals. Meanwhile, Vatapi used to change himself as a goat.     Ilvaludu used to cut the goat and cook delicious food and serve the people. Once after completion of their meals, Ilvaludu used to call Vatapi who is present in the stomach. He used to tear the stomach and come out by killing the people. -->     “Agasthya” gets to know the truth why people are missing after entering the forest. He decides to get into the forest as a normal person. Seeing him, demons think he is also one of the people and calls him to their house as usual. Even he is served the food. After completion of the meals, I

Why we See lord Shiva from bull horns

Image
Why do we see Lord Shiva through the horns of bull? When we enter lord Shiva temple, we find “Nandhi”, Indian bull. The idol of seated bull is placed straight to Shiv Linga. Our parents say it is good to see lord Shiva through the horns of Nandhi. According to mythology, Nandhi is said to be gate keeper of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvathi, if you need to meet lord Shiva, you need to take permission.                 Nandeshwar is known for his vedic dharma. He resembles our animal kind of nature. Holding his horns and keeping our hands on his tail, when we see Lord Shiva through the horns of Nandi, saying the words “Oh god, I will control my animal kind of nature, I will do good things for all human kind and live with honest”. --> Our ancestors prescribed us not to eat more than twice. Why? During the time of our ancestors, our major income source for the country/kingdom was agriculture. In order to work hard, they used to eat in large quantity

Why should we sit in temple?

Image
Why should we sit in temple after visiting god? Temple symbolizes for peace. Immediately after visiting god, all our mental tensions, angry and ego vanishes.                 If we go out of temple premises immediately after visiting god, our mental status regains its position. It will again try to suppress and weak us. We are helpless in this matter.                  If we sit for a while in temple premises, we can calm all our problems. Because of performing pujas and yagnas in temple, whole premises will be bound with immense positive energy. This energy tries to show its effect on our mental position and try to calm our disturbed vibrations in our body. So, whatever the little time we are going to spend in temple premises, we enjoy fresh breath and have healthy time. Who is the lord of each number?

Star influence when attaining puberty

Image
What is the influence of stars when girl reaches puberty stage? In India, people give a lot of importance when their child reaches puberty stage. It reminds the child parents that they have become old and their responsibilities have grown.             When it comes to astrology, people believe stars play important role in their lives. There is a belief that stars change their effect/influence on a girl. Stars have one kind of effect on a girl before her puberty and other effect after puberty. So when a girl reaches puberty stage, father (head of the family) rushes to astrologer to know stars influence on her child. By this they can know good or bad signs going to happen in future.              Even if the stars influence during the attainment of puberty is bad, there are few options to please the lord of the star by performing some pujas and homas.              People have much ambiguity about stars and influence on their lives. Here are some details... Nakshatra Influe

Why goddess Saraswathi sits on stone

Image
Why does goddess Saraswathi sits on stone? If you observe goddess Saraswathi, you find her holding veena in her hand and sits on stone. Whereas you see goddess Lakshmi, you find her sitting on lotus.                 The main reason why goddess Saraswathi doesn’t sit on lotus is because lotus is not stable. In other words, goddess Saraswathi doesn’t like to stay in a place where there is no stability. The hidden fact behind this is, we may lose all the wealth earned in our life, but what all we have learned and knowledge gained cannot be lost.                 We can also notice the vehicle of goddess Saraswathi is swan. Swan has knowledge, if we combine water and milk and put before swan, it differentiates milk and water. It only consumes milk. That means we can do anything with the help of knowledge.                 In other incidence, peacock violates nature rule. It gains pregnancy by drinking male peacock’s eye drops. Why we need to trespass seven entrances of lord Venk

Oil used to light god lamp

Image
What is the oil to be used to light up lamp while praying god? The best oil to light up lamp before god is cow ghee. Next comes ordinary oil. “Mahua flower oil” or “ippa oil” might be extraordinary. The benefits of lighting up the lamp with ghee oil are ultimate. We get ‘ashta aishwarya’ and ‘ashta bhoga’ (great wealth and health)                 If we light the lamp with ‘amudham oil’ (in Telugu), castor oil we get fruitful marriage life, and would be able to maintain good relations between wife and husband.  NOTE: It is said we should never light the lamp with ground nut oil before god.    When it comes to goddess Maha Lakshmi, it is prescribed to light up the lamp with cow ghee, and when it comes to Lord Ganesha, it is recommended to light up the lamp with til oil (nuvvula nuna in Telugu) Is amavasya good or bad sign?

Why we tie black tags at temple

Image
Near many temples we find black tags, why should we tie them? After making puja at home, we tie “thoranam” (a tag which has beetle leaf or mango leaf knotted with a thread with turmeric powder upon it), same like it even a black tag resembles. Wearing these tags brings us goodness.    We call them with many names like “Kasi tag” or “thorom tag”, wearing them removes all negative obstacles caused by travelling from one place to other. They make us reach our destination bounding us with positive energy.    It also makes our house to bind with positive energy and removes eye shore or negative effects. While journey to pilgrimage places, without our knowledge we may do many mistakes, these tags clears them all.   Does unfortunate transmit by making friendship with unfortunate person?

What is first tree or seed

Image
What is first tree or seed? If we need a tree, we need seed. In the same way if we need seed, we need tree. If you are going to make a research on this mystery, then sure you are going to lose your half-life. You will notice it as a cyclic phenomenon but you can’t get the exact cause. Here the relation between tree and seed was first introduced by the god. Almighty is the first than all existing life.    We can say tree is first than seed based on the books and epics of Indian history. During the “Kshera Sagar Madhan” i.e. while ripping ocean by gods and demons, tree named “Kalpavruksha” has originated. That tree is said to be mooladhar (base) behind all the trees. Why should wife and husband be away during Aashadam season?
